How long each holiday is
The four breaks are counted as calendar days, including the Saturdays and Sundays at each end. June is the only break long enough for a trip and a block of revision. March and September are just over a week.
Length of each 2027 MOE school break, in calendar days
The September break ends on Sunday, 12 September. Term 4 starts the next morning. PSLE written papers are published on SEAB’s calendar for the year, and they are not listed as part of this holiday table. Check that timetable before you treat late September as free. The scoring rules are on the PSLE page.
One-day school holidays
These are scheduled school holidays. They are extra to the four breaks. [1]
- Youth Day is Sunday, 4 July. Monday, 5 July is a school holiday, inside Term 3.
- National Day is Monday, 9 August, a public holiday. Tuesday, 10 August is a further school holiday, the day after National Day.
- Teachers’ Day is Friday, 3 September. MOE also lists that Friday as the last day of Term 3, and lists it as a school holiday. The September break starts on Saturday, 4 September.
- Children’s Day is Friday, 8 October, for primary schools and the primary section of a full school. Secondary students attend school that day unless the school says otherwise.
Public holidays on school days
Singapore has 11 gazetted public holidays in 2027. A holiday that falls in a term closes the school. A holiday that falls inside March, June, September or the year-end break does not add a new day off. [3] [1]
| Holiday | Date | Where it falls |
|---|---|---|
| New Year’s Day | Fri 1 Jan | Before the 4 January start |
| Chinese New Year | Sat 6 Feb and Sun 7 Feb | Weekend in Term 1. Mon 8 Feb is a public holiday, so school is closed |
| Hari Raya Puasa | Wed 10 Mar | Term 1, two days before the term ends |
| Good Friday | Fri 26 Mar | Term 2 |
| Labour Day | Sat 1 May | Weekend. Mon 3 May is a school off-in-lieu. General office, student care and KCare are closed |
| Hari Raya Haji | Mon 17 May | Term 2 |
| Vesak Day | Thu 20 May | Term 2 |
| National Day | Mon 9 Aug | Term 3, plus the school holiday on Tue 10 Aug |
| Deepavali | Thu 28 Oct | Term 4. See the Deepavali page for the day itself |
| Christmas Day | Sat 25 Dec | Year-end break. Mon 27 Dec is a school off-in-lieu, already inside the holiday |
The festival day and the school closure are the same Thursday in 2027. In 2026 Deepavali falls on a Sunday, and the weekday off is the Monday after. Both years are on the Deepavali page. The 2026 term dates are on the school holidays 2026 page.
Who follows a different calendar
Junior college and Millennia Institute
Students already in a junior college or Millennia Institute start on 11 January 2027. Students in their first year there start on 3 February 2027. The March, June and September breaks match the school breaks. Students who are not sitting the A-Level start the year-end holiday on 27 November. A-Level candidates start after their last paper. [4] Read the JC’s own letter beside MOE’s calendar. [2]
Infant care, childcare, and international schools
This table is the MOE school year. An ECDA centre sets its own closure days. Infant care for children from 2 months to under 18 months is a different system, described on the infant care page. International schools, madrasahs and private kindergartens publish their own calendars.
Using the June break

June is 30 days. It is the stretch families use for a trip, a camp, and a few weeks of one-to-one lessons before Term 3. Term 4 is a poor time to start looking for a tutor if the child is sitting the PSLE that year, because the papers fall in that term. Book June lessons in May if you want a fixed weekday.
A wet afternoon in the break has two easy outlets: an indoor playground, or a rink on the ice skating page. The standing weekend list is on things to do this weekend. Malls and attractions are busier in June than on a term-time Saturday.
Tutor Circle matches a one-to-one tutor for the subject that slipped in Term 2. Parents pay the tutor. Coordinators are on WhatsApp at +65 9628 4702, daily from 9am to 8pm.
Questions parents ask
When are the MOE school holidays in 2027?
For MOE kindergartens, primary schools and secondary schools, the breaks are 13 to 21 March, 29 May to 27 June, 4 to 12 September, and 20 November to 31 December 2027. There are also one-day school holidays: 5 July after Youth Day, 10 August after National Day, 3 September for Teachers’ Day, and 8 October for Children’s Day in primary schools.
When does the 2027 school year start and end?
MOE kindergartens, primary schools and secondary schools start on Monday, 4 January 2027 and end on Friday, 19 November 2027. Primary 1 and Kindergarten 1 start on 4 January. Primary 2 to 6 and Kindergarten 2 start on Tuesday, 5 January. Schools used as venues for the Singapore-Cambridge Secondary Education Certificate written examinations end the final term on Friday, 29 October 2027.
Is Deepavali 2027 a school holiday?
Yes. Deepavali is Thursday, 28 October 2027, and it is a gazetted public holiday. That Thursday sits inside Term 4, so MOE schools are closed. The next day, Friday 29 October, is a school day, except at schools whose final term ends that Friday because they are SEC written-exam venues.
Do childcare and infant care centres close for MOE school holidays?
MOE Kindergartens follow this calendar. An ECDA infant care or childcare centre does not automatically close because primary schools are on holiday. Ask the centre for its own closure list. Student care and KCare do close on the designated school off-in-lieu days MOE names in the 2027 release.
When do junior colleges start in 2027?
MOE’s announcement, as reported by CNA, has students entering their first year in a junior college or Millennia Institute starting on 3 February 2027. Other JC and MI students start on 11 January 2027. Students who are not sitting the A-Level start the year-end break on 27 November. Candidates sitting the A-Level start after their last paper. Confirm the line that applies to your course on moe.gov.sg/calendar.
