Things to Do in Singapore This Weekend
13 October 2026 · Tutor Circle
Things to do in Singapore this weekend, with children, start from places that are still there next Saturday: a park in the morning, one indoor backup if it rains, and a five-minute check of what is actually on. Event roundups expire. The Botanic Gardens, East Coast Park and the Jurassic Mile do not.

- Morning default
- Botanic Gardens, East Coast Park, or Changi Jurassic Mile
- If it rains
- KidsSTOP (18 months to 8), a Kiztopia branch, or an ice rink
- Check on Saturday
- NEA weather, then VisitSingapore’s events list
- School holidays
- June and public-holiday weekends need a booking. See the 2026 and 2027 calendars
- Deepavali
- If the holiday falls this weekend, Little India is the crowd. Details on the Deepavali page
- Schoolwork
- One block, not both days. PSLE English Paper 1 is 70 minutes
A Saturday that still works next month
Pick the outdoor place on Friday night. On Saturday morning, read the NEA forecast. [1] If the radar shows lightning in your window, switch to the indoor backup before you leave the house. Then, if you still want something that exists only this weekend, open VisitSingapore’s events list and choose one thing, not four. [6]
That order matters. A pop-up market is a bonus. A park you can reach by MRT is the plan. Families who reverse the order spend the morning refreshing a sold-out ticket page.
Standing options
| Place | Cost to enter | Best for | Read next |
|---|---|---|---|
| Singapore Botanic Gardens | Free outdoors. Check NParks for garden hours inside the gardens | Morning walk, including a children’s garden | NParks |
| East Coast Park | Free. Bicycles are rented | Scooters, picnic, a long flat path | NParks |
| Changi Jurassic Mile | No attraction ticket. Outdoor, unsheltered | Dinosaurs beside Terminal 4 | The Jurassic Mile page |
| KidsSTOP, Jurong | Ticket and a time slot | 18 months to 8, with an adult aged 18+ | Indoor playgrounds |
| Kiztopia branches | Ticket. Peak pricing on weekends | Mall play, age depends on the outlet | Indoor playgrounds |
| Kallang Ice World or Ice Penguin | Session fee | Real ice, or a first lesson on a synthetic rink | Ice skating |
| Little India | Free to walk. Food and the bazaar cost money | Deepavali lights, when that holiday is close | Deepavali |
NParks is the map for the parks. [2] The dinosaur path is Changi Airport’s. [3] KidsSTOP’s age band is the Science Centre’s. [4] Museum permanent galleries are worth a look on a wet afternoon. Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents should read the museum’s own free-entry line before assuming a special exhibition is included.
How a Saturday can be split
One outing is enough with children under 8. This split keeps a meal and a rest in the day. It is a plan, not a schedule you owe anyone.
A sample Saturday, in hours
The evening bar is longer because it should stay empty. A second ticket at 5pm is how bedtime moves and Monday’s school morning goes badly.
Rain, holidays, and Deepavali

- Drizzle at East Coast can still be a sheltered hawker stop. Lightning means you leave the field and the beach.
- School-holiday weekends, especially June, are the busy ones. The dates are on the 2026 and 2027 MOE pages. [5]
- If Deepavali’s public holiday makes a long weekend, do Little India in the morning and a quieter place the next day. The dates are 8 and 9 November 2026, and 28 October 2027.
- Horse riding and ice skating need a booking or an early queue. They are a single activity, not a stop on the way to a park.
The indoor backup, chosen by age, is the indoor playground page. The decision rules, including how long a toddler lasts, are on the how to choose page.
Leave an hour for school
A weekend with two full outings and a worksheet at 9pm is the weekend that produces a fight. Put the school block where the child is still fresh. For Primary 6 English, that block can be one Paper 1: situational writing and a composition, 1 hour 10 minutes. The practice split is on the situational writing page. The score those papers feed is on the PSLE page.
If you want a person to mark that paper, ask before the June holiday, not on Sunday night. Tutor Circle matches a one-to-one tutor. Parents pay the tutor. WhatsApp +65 9628 4702, daily from 9am to 8pm.
Questions parents ask
What is there to do in Singapore this weekend with kids?
Start with a free outdoor place in the morning: the Singapore Botanic Gardens, East Coast Park, or the Changi Jurassic Mile. Keep one indoor backup, such as KidsSTOP or a mall playground, if the NEA forecast is rain or lightning. Then check VisitSingapore and the National Heritage Board for what is on this particular Saturday. A printed “this weekend” list from last month is already wrong.
What is free this weekend?
The outdoor Botanic Gardens, East Coast Park, and the Jurassic Mile path do not charge an attraction ticket. Bicycle rental, food, and conservatory tickets are extra. National museums often have free entry for Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents to permanent galleries. Confirm the current rule, and any special-exhibition charge, on the museum’s page before you go.
What if it rains all weekend?
Use the indoor list: KidsSTOP in Jurong for ages 18 months to 8, a Kiztopia branch that matches your child’s age, or ice skating at Kallang Ice World or Ice Penguin. Hawker centres are the meal. Lightning, not drizzle, is the reason to leave a park. NEA’s forecast is the check on Saturday morning.
Are weekends busier during school holidays?
Yes. The June break, the short March and September breaks, and public holidays fill playgrounds, rinks and the park connectors. MOE’s 2026 and 2027 term dates show when every primary school is out. Book timed entry for those weekends. A term-time Sunday morning is the quieter version of the same place.
How do we fit homework into the weekend?
Put one school block on Saturday morning or Sunday evening, not both days filled with tickets. A Primary 6 child sitting English can do one timed Paper 1. The situational-writing split is 70 minutes for the whole paper. The rest of the weekend can be the outing. A tutor, if you want one, is a weekday or a single holiday slot, not a replacement for the park.
