Singapore School Calendar 2027 and Exam Dates

The 2027 MOE school year for kindergartens, primary schools and secondary schools runs from Monday, 4 January to Friday, 19 November. SEAB has not published PSLE 2027 dates. The latest written timetable is the 2026 one: Thursday, 24 September to Wednesday, 30 September. The first SEC exam sits in 2027, with English and Mother Tongue written papers in September and the other written papers in October.

The 2027 school year

MOE published these terms on 14 July 2026. They cover MOE Kindergartens, primary schools and secondary schools. The length of each break, and which public holidays fall on a school day, is set out on the MOE school holidays 2027 page. This page places those terms next to the exams. [1]

Schools used as venues for the SEC written examinations finish on Friday, 29 October 2027. Primary schools are not those venues. [1]

Where the exams sit

A blank wall calendar, a navy pencil case and a school bag on a dining table in a Singapore flat — Term dates are published. The PSLE day-by-day timetable for 2027 is not, so keep the September break free until SEAB’s PDF is out.

Three calendars overlap in Term 4. Primary 6 has the PSLE. Secondary 4 in 2027 has the first SEC. Junior colleges keep their own start dates. Mixing them up is how a family books a trip across a paper.

PSLE 2027 dates

What SEAB has actually published

As at 13 October 2026, the PSLE page on SEAB still points families to the 2026 examination calendar. That timetable puts the written papers on five school days: 24, 25, 28, 29 and 30 September 2026. English Language Papers 1 and 2 are on 24 September. Mathematics Papers 1 and 2 are on 25 September. Science is on 29 September. Mother tongue and higher mother tongue papers fill the remaining days of that window. [2]

The 2027 written dates will be a new PDF. Until that PDF exists, a reprinted “PSLE 2027 timetable” on a tuition site is a projection. The stable shape, across recent years, is an oral examination in August, listening comprehension in September, and written papers in the last week of September, sometimes spilling into the first days of October. Children’s Day 2027 is Friday, 8 October, and Deepavali is Thursday, 28 October. Neither date is a PSLE paper.

Treat August 2027 as the oral month until SEAB says otherwise, and keep the child in Singapore that fortnight once the timetable is out.
Treat the September break (4 to 12 September) as the risky holiday. A listening paper has fallen in mid-September in recent years.
Treat the last week of September as the written week. Do not plan an overseas trip that week.

When to book tuition

June is the only break long enough to repair a topic and still have a holiday. A P6 child who is shaky on problem sums or open-ended science in the May tests should be matched in May, for lessons across the 29 May to 27 June break, then a weekly slot in Term 3. Starting the search in September collides with the papers.

A Sec 4 student in 2027 is the first SEC cohort. English and Mother Tongue written papers move earlier, into September, so the old habit of “English can wait until the prelims” no longer matches the timetable. The subject that is new in Sec 3, often Additional Mathematics or a pure science, is the one to staff first. Rates by tutor type are on the 2026 rate table.

Request a tutor before the June break

Questions parents ask

When does the 2027 school year start and end in Singapore?

MOE kindergartens, primary schools and secondary schools start on Monday, 4 January 2027. Primary 1 and Kindergarten 1 start that day. Primary 2 to 6 and Kindergarten 2 start on Tuesday, 5 January. The last day for most of these schools is Friday, 19 November 2027. Schools used as venues for the SEC written examinations end the final term on Friday, 29 October 2027.

What are the PSLE 2027 dates?

SEAB has not published the 2027 PSLE timetable. The latest official timetable is for 2026: written papers ran from Thursday, 24 September to Wednesday, 30 September 2026. In recent years the oral examination has been in August and listening comprehension in September. Check seab.gov.sg/psle before you book a September trip in 2027.

When are the MOE school holidays in 2027?

The four breaks for MOE kindergartens, primary schools and secondary schools are 13 to 21 March, 29 May to 27 June, 4 to 12 September, and 20 November to 31 December 2027. When is the SEC exam in 2027?

The first Singapore-Cambridge Secondary Education Certificate cohort sits in 2027. MOE has said English and Mother Tongue written papers move to September, and the other written papers share one period in October. Results are released in January 2028. The exact day-by-day timetable is SEAB’s, and it is separate from the PSLE timetable.

Do junior colleges use the same 2027 calendar?

No. MOE’s July 2026 announcement, as reported by CNA, has students entering the first year of a junior college or Millennia Institute starting on 3 February 2027. Other JC and MI students start on 11 January 2027. Use moe.gov.sg/calendar for the line that matches the course.
