Tutor FAQ - Singapore

1. How much is the agency fee?

During the promotion period, the tuition of the first week of lessons (not the calendar month) is incurred as agency fees. Example: Client Andy engages tutor A for one lesson per week, at $50/lesson. The agency commission is equivalent to 1 lesson ($50). Please note that for short-term jobs or special cases, the agency fees may be different and this will be stated in the job info.

2. How can I increase the chances of getting jobs?

  • Tutor meets the requirement of the case, primarily location and time(subject to other requirements by tutee). If the tutor is interested in the case but is only available at another time, please mention it in the chat.
  • Tutor's self-introduction is precise and easy to understand.
  • Tutor's past record is satisfactory and tutorial lessons have not been cancelled by parents.
  • The instructor has a good attitude.

3. How will I be paid if the lessons were terminated within the 1st week?

The tuition will be divided equally between Tutor Circle and tutor if the cancellation is not initiated by the tutor.

4. How is the agency fee paid?

The agency fee exists as a portion of the lesson fees. Hence, you do not need to make any payments to Tutor Circle throughout your tuition assignments.
The commission shall be paid by the client (parent or student) directly to the agency and is due to be paid after completion of the number of lessons by the client (will be stated clearly in the confirmation invoice – generally this will be when the tuition fees is equivalent to the agency commission). Thereafter, you may collect the tuition fees for any subsequent lessons you conducted.

5. How is the agency fee calculated for short-term assignments?

Short-term assignments are defined by students who only require a fixed number of lessons until a certain exam date (usually less than 6 weeks of lessons).
For short-term assignments we generally collect 30% of the TOTAL tuition fee but the exact percentages may differ and we will let tutors know beforehand.
Tutor Circle is committed to protect the welfare of our tutors. For short-term assignments only, our commission shall not exceed 30% of the tutor's total earnings.
